Woman Arrested On Drug, OWI Charges After Accident With Injuries
(BEDFORD) - A Bedford woman was jailed last night after an accident that sent another woman to the hospital.
Bedford police reports say 44-year-old Susan Tumey of Bedford was sitting in her car with two passengers in front of a home on the 600 block of 18th Street last night when a car driven by 42-year-old Teresa Staggs of Bedford struck it from behind.
The report indicates Staggs appeared to be under the influence of some sort of medication and was taken to Dunn Memorial Hospital for a blood draw.
Tumey was taken to the Bedford Regional Medical Center complaining of knee pain.
Staggs was eventually taken into custody, without any apparent injury, on charges of driving while intoxicated, possession of a Schedule IV substance, public intoxication and other, lesser citations.
