Owen County Puppy Shop Shut Down
(CLOVERDALE) - A troubled Owen County puppy business has been shut down after now-former Indiana Attorney General Steve Carner and Owen County Circuit Judge Frank Nardi pulled the plug over outstanding taxes.
A release sent out by the Attorney General's office says Kritter Haven in the Owen County town of Cloverdale was issued a restraining order to prevent it from continuing business operations, and Tammy Gilchrist, the business' owner, had her merchant's license revoked for not paying the nearly $200,000 in taxes she owed.
Carter also reports that he has received complaints from Kritter Haven customers, who may have also done business with the company under other names, alleging Gilchrist's company, amongst other things, misrepresented the health of puppies sold and sold some with illnesses that died just days after delivery.
