Knox County Man Dies In Head-On Wreck With Semi

(DALE) - A Knox County man is dead after a wreck on US-231 in Spencer County.

State Police Jasper say 38-year-old Timothy Oeding of Wheatland was heading north on US-231 and, for reasons still unknown, crossed the centerline and ran head-on into a Freightliner semi driven by 40-yeear-old Craig Farler of Leavenworth.

Police say Oeding was killed instantly, Farler was taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital for a broken leg, and then transferred to University of Louisville Hospital for surgery. Police say their investigation so far indicates drugs and alcohol don't seem to be a factor, however, they are continuing to look into causes.

Police say US-231 was closed for about 3 hours for cleanup.
