(UNDATED) - A series of state parks in Indiana are going to be closing down for a few days for deer hunters to come in and thin the herd.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says 17 parks will close up shop for the next two Monday-Tuesday combos for a group of invited hunters to come in and reduce the population.

Parks including Brown County in Nashville, Spring Mill in Mitchell, and McCormick's Creek in Spencer will close down Monday and Tuesday, November 17th and 18th and December 1st and 2nd.

The overall firearm deer season runs from November 15th through November 30th.

A pool of hunters for the state park hunts was issued invitations back in September.
