Monroe County Asks For Special Prosecutor To Check Funds Transfer
(BLOOMINGTON) - Allegations of official misconduct have been made in Monroe County, and now a special prosecutor is being sought to investigate.
The Bloomington Herald Times reports the Monroe County Auditor's Office may be combed through by a special prosecutor after Chief Prosecutor Bob Miller asked for an out-of-county prosecutor.
The paper says County Council President Vic Kelson noticed a $350,000 appropriation to a county insurance fund the council unanimously denied went through anyway. Kelson says he found the transfer was approved by the Department of Local Government Finance, and now, he wants to find out what happened.
The special prosecutor is to help avoid any appearance of impropriety in the investigation.
