(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University police are investigating an apparent suicide that occurred near the Union Street railroad crossing.

IUPD Captain Jerry Minger says officers were called to the scene yesterday afternoon on the call of a body found by the tracks.

Monroe County Coroner David Toumey was called to the scene and pronounced 34-year-old Donald Kidwell of Bloomington, an IU General Studies student, dead at the scene.

After getting a chance to examine the body at Bloomington Hospital, Toumey pronounced the death to be a suicide as they say the body was situated to place the head across the tracks.
