(BLOOMINGTON) - Good news for political junkies in the WBIW listening area. The Indiana Debate Commission has selected Bloomington as one of three sites for governor Mitch Daniels and Democratic challenger Jill Long Thompson to debate the issues facing the state of Indiana.

Indiana University will host the final of the three debates on Tuesday, October 14th, at the IU Auditorium, which will be in the evening, and open to the public.

The first two debates will happen in Northern Indiana's Merrillville on September 16th and the in southern Jasper on September 23rd.

Not only have Daniels and Thompson been invited to participate, Libertarian candidate Andy Horning has also been invited by the Indiana Debate Commission.

One of the reasons IU Bloomington was chosen was because the school made a compelling, though unsuccessful bid, to host a presidential debate during the 2008 election season.
