Velpin Man Found Driving Drunk With Kids In Car

(DUBOIS COUNTY) - A Dubois County man is in jail after being caught allegedly driving drunk with 4 kids in the car.
Police say they found 39-year-old Ryan Powell of Velpin, Indiana north of Jasper and pulled him over. When the officer made contact, he says he smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, and found 4 children in the car, none of which were wearing seat belts.
Powell reportedly tested at more than twice the legal blood alcohol limit, and was also found to have had a prior drunk driving arrest, making this time around a felony.
Powell was lodged in the Dubois County jail without incident, no word on where the kids were taken.
