Teen Dies At Monroe Reservoir
(MONROVIA) - An 18-year-old boy drowned in the Lake Monroe reservoir Wednesday afternoon.
Department of Natural Resources officials say it happened when he dove in to try and save someone else. DNR Officer Angela Goldman says the Monrovia teen dove in to help a woman who was having trouble swimming. The teen did not come back up.
Goldman says this serves as a reminder for people who do not swim to wear life jackets if they go out on the water. The Monroe reservoir is 11,000 acres and is between Bloomington and Bedford.
The drowning happened near the boat dock in Paynetown.
