Seventh Motorist This Month Killed On Area Roads

(MORGAN COUNTY) - Another day, another motorcyclist killed on South Central Indiana roads, this one in Morgan County.

State Police Putnamville say 19-year-old Jesse Gerst of Lafayette was riding his 2007 Suzuki bike on IN-42 eastbound when 20-year-old Megan Ward of Martinsville was coming the opposite way.

Witnesses say Gerst was speeding when he clipped the rear quarter panel of Ward's sedan, throwing Gerst from the bike and, sending the bike into a Saturn driven by 59-year-old Meredith Iliff of Monrovia.

Iliff was treated on scene for minor injuries by fire personnel, Ward was taken to Morgan County Hospital with minor injuries, Gerst was pronounced dead on the scene by the Morgan County Coroner.

Troopers say Gerst was wearing his helmet.
