(HAYSVILLE) - A Jasper man is dead in Martin County after his police pursuit ended in his suicide.

Indiana State Police Jasper say they were at the home of 40-year-old Jeffery Truelove of Jasper to do a probation status check on him, and they arrived at the house before he did.

When Truelove pulled his truck into the driveway, troopers approached to identify themselves, and Truelove put the truck in reverse, backed out, almost hitting an officer, and took off quickly down IN-56 to US-231 north in Haysville.

Police say Truelove pointed a gun at officers during the pursuit but never fired. Eventually, Truelove would pull into Truelove Church Cemetery in Martin County and take his own life.
