(BLOOMINGTON) - A law professor at the Indiana University School of Law says a recent report by the United Nations makes her feel more confident about the relationship of business and human rights.

Professor Christiana Ochoa, at IU Bloomington, says law experts worldwide have been trying to devise strategies to address what they call "governance gaps" that have allowed business operations to violate human rights, such as dangerous working conditions, child labor, and the exemption of international businesses from any sort of regulation in some countries.

Ochoa says the report aims to set a framework for correcting such problems, provides focus for those working on the issue to develop effective change, and develops a map to show where the problems are and what effect they have.
