County Deputy Injured In Mitchell Accident

(MITCHELL) - A Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputy was injured in a rear end accident late Monday morning in Mitchell.
Lawrence County reports say 44-year-old Deputy Aaron Shoults was stopped at the train tracks on IN-60 near 6th Street in Mitchell waiting for the train to pass through when 19-year-old Joshua Gilbert of Mitchell locked up his wheels on the wet pavement trying to come to a stop.
Gilbert rear-ended Deputy Shoults in his county-issue Ford Fusion sedan, causing him to suffer a contusion to his chest.
Though Gilbert wasn't injured, Shoults was taken by another officer in his squad car to Dunn Memorial Hospital for treatment.
No citations have reportedly been issued.
