Child Welfare Call Turns Into Drug Bust
(ROCKFORD) - State police turned a child welfare call into a pair of drug arrests.
Seymour troopers were called to a home in Rockford in Jackson County yesterday to a child welfare check.
The caller told dispatchers they almost ran over a child playing in the street, and when they tried to bring the child back up to the house, they say the parents' reaction was reportedly "insignificant."
When troopers arrived, 52-year-old Larry Bearry opened the door, revealing drug paraphernalia on a table next to 43-year-old Barbara Clark. In the house, police say they located marijuana, meth and paraphernalia, and took both Bearry and Clark into custody.
They both are facing possession charges along with maintaining a common nuisance and neglect of a dependent.
