(BEDFORD) - First responders from the Bedford Police Department as well as other emergency crews responded to a fiery roll over around 12:48am this morning.

Lawrence County Coroner John Sherrill tells WBIW News 40-year-old Robert D. Hicks of Mitchell died on IN-37, just over 700 feet within Bedford city limits.

Sherrill says Hicks' truck, for unknown reasons, left the roadway inside the rock cut near the White River Bridge, struck the rock, and rolled over landing on its top. However, at that point, Hicks' GMC pickup caught fire, with Hicks still inside.

Sherrill says an autopsy is not planned at this point, and Bedford officers are continuing to complete the final accident report.
