$1.6M Needed To Fix Martinsville Area

(MARTINSVILLE) - The price tag has come in to put Martinsville back together after last month’s severe flooding.
According to a report in the Martinsville Reporter-Times, the Martinsville city engineer expects costs to top $1.6 million dollars at a meeting of the common council.
The most expensive project will be removing sand from the city's storm system, expected to ring the register at a half million dollars. Another $200,000 will go each to fixing the Lincoln Heights slip and removing more sand from the sewer system.
Additionally, city officials say they will be enforcing a city ordinance banning the dumping of waste from residents and businesses into the streets and drainage systems.
This estimate comes just days after repair costs at Camp Atterbury in Edinburgh are expected to top $49 million dollars.
