Two Injured In Weekend Crash

(MITCHELL) - Two people were injured when a motorcycle struck a truck on SR-37 in Mitchell Saturday evening.

According to 76-year-old Buford Hartzell of Mitchell, he was stopped on Gun Club Road and began to turn south on SR-37 but didn't see the motorcycle, driven by 39-year-old Shawn Whalin of Orleans, and the bike struck hit Hartzell's truck.

However, a witness traveling on SR-37 stated Hartzell never stopped at the intersection.

Whalin was airlifted from the scene and his passenger 33-year-old Kellie Whalin also of Orleans was taken to Dunn Memorial Hospital and later transported to another hospital.

Hartzell was cited in the accident.
