Mitchell Man Found Hanged In Lawrence County Jail
(BEDFORD) - A Lawrence County inmate from Mitchell was found hanging in his cell early yesterday morning.
Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig tells WBIW News Lawrence County prison guards found 39-year-old Victor M. Arana of Mitchell hanging in his cell at a logged time of around 7:00am yesterday.
Currently, Lawrence County investigators, as well as those from the Indiana State Police post in Bloomington, are investigating the incident, and are unable to give out much in the way of detail.
What Craig could confirm, however, was that Arana was lodged in the jail on May 1st of this year on both Habitual Traffic Violator and Driving While Intoxicated charges stemming from a March 2006 arrest, and that he was scheduled for release in July of 2009.
Craig says Arana was out on bond in the intervening time.
