(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man is behind bars after Bedford police spotted him fleeing the scene of a robbery he wasn’t involved in.

Bedford police officers were in the area of 2nd Street and Lincoln Avenue after being notified of a theft in the area when they spotted a man running from the area.

The man then got into a car and started to drive away but was then stopped by officers. In the car they found 26 year old Brandon Evans of Bedford, and a female passenger.

A records check found the female passenger had a protective restraining order on Evans.

Officers took Evans into custody on a charge of invasion of privacy and he was lodged in Lawrence County jail.
