Heavy Rains Slow PCB Clean Up In Bedford
Last updated on Monday, June 23, 2008
(BEDFORD) - Rain delays have hampered GM’s PCB cleanup project in Bedford.
GM has been cleaning up PCB polluted streams, springs and soil on and near its Bedford property since 2001.
So far more than 1 million tons of soil, rock and sediment have been removed from the areas downstream from its powertrain plant.
A GM spokesman says soil removal should be finished this year while restoring the streams to a natural condition will continue through 2009.
