(COLUMBUS) - Columbus Regional Hospital’s emergency room will remain closed for another six-to-eight weeks as the hospital cleans up from this week’s floods.

Hospital CEO Jim Bickel says all the hospital's doctors in the Columbus area will continue to see patients at their regular offices. He says the hospital will reopen as quickly as possible, but says the top priority has to be the health and safety of employees and community members.

Bickel says the emergency room won't be ready to reopen for at least six weeks, and it's expected to be more than three months before all hospital services are fully back to normal.

Bickel says all hospital employees will receive full pay and benefits for at least three months. Columbus Regional is the primary hospital for patients in a 10-county area.
