(BLOOMINGTON) - A Monroe County Sheriff’s deputy had to chase after a runaway moped shortly after midnight Monday.

Monroe County Chief Deputy Scott Mellinger says a Monroe County deputy went to pull over a moped for a traffic violation near 3rd Street and Curry Pike, and the driver disregarded the officer's lights and sirens.

The moped driver led the officer on a ride through about 4 different streets until he finally ran off the road into some gravel on Smith Pike, where he was finally arrested.

The driver, 44-year-old George Boler, was taken in on several traffic violations including a felony charge of resisting arrest.
