Lawrence County Geared Up For Today's Expected Turnout
(BEDFORD) - The Indiana Secretary of State’s Office has a preliminary count of the number of absentee ballots having been entered in this year’s primary race.
Statewide, 167,783 ballots were received by yesterday's noon deadline, more than 1,600 of which came from right here in Lawrence County.
Record turnout has also come through our nearby neighbors, including more than 10,000 votes in Monroe County, 402 in Orange, 345 in Martin, over 1,300 in Greene, 917 in Jackson, 710 in Washington and 640 in Brown County.
Lawrence County Clerk Myron Rainey has told WBIW News that voter turnout is expected to continue heavily today for the official polling day, but the county is geared up for the turnout.
The counties with the most votes are, appropriately enough, Marion, Lake and Monroe Counties.
The least number of votes was Warren County...which had only 4 absentee ballots arrive.
