Firefighters Take On Intentional Trailer Blaze In Shawswick

(SHAWSWICK) - It’s common practice in Lawrence County to get rid of trash by burning it in a controlled fire, but some items just aren’t a good idea to burn, for example, trailer homes.

Shawswick firefighters were called to an intentionally set trailer fire Wednesday evening. Firefighters arrived at the Vinegar Hill Addition to the scene of a trailer fully involved with the roof already collapsed.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and then determined it was set by flammable liquids.

According to Shawswick Fire Investigator Brandon Robertson, the owner of the property gave the subjects permission to clean up the area and salvage what they could from the uninhabitable trailer, however, he didn't give them permission to light it on fire, nor did the fire department since law prohibits the burning of certain items like tires, oils, roofing materials and the like.

However, no charges are being pressed since, according to the report, the owner was going to remove the trailer anyway; however, the subjects were ordered to clean up the mess.
