Five Incarcerated After Bedford Meth Lab Bust
(BEDFORD) - Four Bedford residents and one out-of-towner are behind bars after a Lawrence County meth lab gets taken down.
Indiana State Police Bloomington went to a home on Sowders Lane in Bedford to serve a Lawrence County warrant for purchasing more than 3 grams of meth precursors in a week on 25-year-old Brandon Brown yesterday.
When they arrived, troopers say they smelled the odor of a meth lab in the garage, and when a person answered the door, the smell got even stronger.
State troopers with assistance from Lawrence County Sheriff's officers secured the residence, the 5 people inside, plus 2 children ages 1 and 2, and reportedly plenty of contraband.
In the end, 4 Bedfordites and 1 Vallonia resident are facing charges.
4 Bedfordites face felony charges of maintaining a common nuisance and neglect of a dependent and a misdemeanor charge of taking a child to a common nuisance including 25-year-old Jesse Nikirk and 29-year-old Tabitha Moore.
58-year-old Garry Moore also faces felonies of manufacture of meth with a firearm, possession of precursors with a firearm, and illegal dumping of controlled substance waste.
25-year-old Brandon Brown also faces felonies of possession of meth, and possession of precursors and misdemeanors of possession of paraphernalia and purchase of more than 3 grams of precursors.
29-year-old Keith Moody of Vallonia faces a misdemeanor charge of visiting a common nuisance.
All 5 were taken to Lawrence County jail.
