Dr. Tiwari Named In Civil Lawsuit

(BLOOMINGTON) - If you thought the Dr. Tiwari flap in Bloomington was about buttoned up, think again.
The Bloomington Surgery Center is now naming Dr. Kamal Tiwari in a civil suit, seeking more than $350,000 in damages.
In the suit, filed yesterday, the Bloomington Surgery Center claims the alleged reuse of needles in Dr. Tiwari's patients has resulted in about $355,000 in costs for the organization to clean up the mess.
Dr. Tiwari is accused of reusing needles in his anesthesiology practice, and is currently under investigation by the FBI for numerous allegations including double billing and writing illegal scripts.
The surgery center offered free HIV and hepatitis testing to his patients as a result of the needles.
