IN-450 Flooded, More Flooding Problems On Way

(UNDATED) - Flooding problems are showing up in and around Lawrence County.

At present, the Indiana Department of Transportation has IN-450 between IN-37 and US-50 in Shoals declared impassable and closed due to flooding. Flooding of IN-450 has also been confirmed by the Sheriff's Department in Lawrence County.

Additionally, for those needing to travel in Perry County, IN-66 in having flooding problems between IN-166 in Rocky Point and IN-70 in Derby.

State police have been sending reminders to anyone they can telling drivers to obey flood signs posted. A commercial flatbed truck near Lafayette disregarded one and wound up sunk in the water.

Additionally, those living along the Embarras River in Lawrence County either are or will be experiencing flooding due to backwash from the Wabash River.

Flood warnings continue along the East Fork of the White River through Bedford through Sunday afternoon. As of noon yesterday, East Fork levels were at 17.5 feet, flood stage is 20, and levels are expected to be up around 23 feet Monday morning.

At 23 feet, almost all nearby roads would be flooded with exception for Highways 37 and 50.
