Flood Warning Continues For Listening Area

(UNDATED) - A flood warning remains in effect until 10:15am Wednesday morning. Rain amounts as much as 3 inches have fallen since yesterday morning across much of the Wabash River basin as well as a large part of South Central Indiana.

This very heavy rain has caused area streams, creeks and small rivers to become flooded since late Tuesday night. Theses bodies of water are expected to remain flooded through Wednesday morning.

A flood warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported. Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected. However all interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful enough to sweep vehicles off the road. When encountering flooded roads make the smart choice: turn around, don't drown.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on small creeks and streams and ponding of water in urban areas. This includes highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage areas and low lying spots.
