Bloomington Planned Parenthood Giving Out Free Emergency Contraception
(BLOOMINGTON) - In what may be a move that will stir some significant controversy, the Bloomington office of Planned Parenthood has announced the will be offering free emergency contraceptives Tuesday March 4th while supplies last.
Planned Parenthood of Indiana will have a table set up near Ballentine Hall on the Indiana University campus on Tuesday the 4th and Wednesday the 5th from 11:00am until 2:00pm.
Emergency contraception, commonly referred to as EC or the "morning after pill," has drawn the ire of pro-life crowds in political circles as the medications often get equated to actual abortion.
However, medical experts who have published research and opinions say that's not possible since emergency contraception, which is most effective when taken between 72 and 120 hours of an incident, is aimed at preventing a pregnancy from occurring, and not terminating one.
