No, They're Not Sending Out New Social Security Cards

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Attorney General Steve Carter has released an alert over a new phone scam swinging through the Hoosier State.
The new scam involves callers telling victims new Social Security cards or free medical cards are being distributed, asking you for bank account, social security, and other compromising personal information.
Carter reminds Hoosiers that banks, the government, and health management companies will never, ever call you for any reason asking you for account or social security information.
If someone calls you asking for such information, no matter what they tell you, it's a phishing scam.
After you hang up on the crook, Carter recommends reporting the call to his Consumer Fraud Division by either visiting www.in.gov/attorneygeneral or by calling 1 (800) 382-5516.
