(INDIANAPOLIS) - Governor Mitch Daniels has sent his opinion to all Indiana congressional delegates on the proposed 40-cent gas tax proposed by the Federal National Surface Transportation Policy and Revenue Commission.

The 40-cent tax is aimed at funding additional road and infrastructure construction and maintenance, and that's something Daniels says Indiana already has taken care of.

According to Daniels' letter, Indiana's state road work is in the black for at least the next 10 years, and he says we made it happen without either additional taxes or borrowing.

Daniels asked all Indiana Congressmen and both Senators to oppose the bill if it reaches the floor.

No word yet on the opinions of area Congressmen Buyer and Hill, nor from Senators Luger and Bayh.
