New Albany Woman Fends Off Attacker

(NEW ALBANY) - In a textbook of example of what you are supposed to do when assaulted, a would be victim of a robbery in New Albany turned the tables on her assailant.
Shortly after 6:30 last night, State Police Sellersburg say a woman got into her car after leaving a strip mall and, when she closed the door to her car, 38-year-old Earl McCormick of Madison, Indiana allegedly opened it back up and tried to grab her purse.
At that point, the woman was indeed scared, but screamed and yelled for help, which is exactly what you're supposed to do, and this shook McCormick enough for him to turn tail and get in his own car.
To make matters worse for McCormick, the woman followed his car and gave the plate number and vehicle description to 911 dispatch.
State troopers caught up with him east of Jeffersonville, arrested him and stuck him with a felony charge of attempted robbery.
Troopers ask anyone who thinks they have been a victim of McCormick to come forward by calling (812) 246-2509.
