(UNDATED) - Tips for cooking your Thanksgiving turkey are available by calling the Butterball talk-line.

The service was launched in 1981 and each year brings more calls and new advice.

Supervisor Marti Van Ness says the first thing you need is a meat thermometer to make sure the turkey is done. She recommends waiting 15 to 20 minutes after the turkey is done before you start to carve... then the meat should be carved off the bone and stored within two hours of putting the turkey on the table.

The phone number is simple. It's 1-800-BUTTERBALL.
