(BEDFORD) - A Springville man is seriously injured after running his SUV off the road last night.

Shortly before 6:30 last night, Lawrence County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of a single-car accident near the intersection of Reuter and Peters Lanes.

The sheriff's report says 18-year-old Brandon Kimbrel was southbound on Reuter when he left the right side of the roadway, came back across the road running off the left side, and that's when his tires bit into an embankment. The Explorer rolled onto the driver's side, struck a tree with the top of the vehicle and spun 360 degrees.

When deputies arrived, they found Kimbrel unconscious and trapped in the vehicle. Bedford Fire Department responders extracted Kimbrel from the truck.

It was determined he had suffered incapacitating internal head injuries, so he was flown by Air-Evac helicopter to the University of Louisville Hospital.
