(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County Recorder Myron Rainey has been selected as the new Lawrence County Clerk for after the first of the year.

Current clerk Julie Blackwell-Chase was elected as the Clerk-Treasurer of the City of Bedford in this month's elections, which means she will leave her county desk empty.

Rainey will be responsible for the new post beginning New Year 's Day, and will hold that office until the next election cycle, beginning next year.

If Rainey wants to retain the office after that, he will have to run in the 2008 elections.

In the interest of full disclosure, in addition to being Lawrence County's current Recorder, Myron Rainey is WBIW's announcer for BNL Stars sporting events.
