(BEDFORD) - Today is the big day for everyone running for office, especially in the hotly contested mayoral elections in Bedford and Mitchell.

Hoosiers will go to the polls today to make their voice heard in municipal contests. This year will be especially important in Lawrence County as the area faces huge economic challenges with Visteon closing its doors next year and GM Powertrain with a constant cloud hanging overhead.

In addition to the well covered mayors' races in Bedford and Mitchell, all city council seats in Mitchell are contested.

Bedford District 1 Councilman Patrick W. Robbins is being challenged by Republican Ken Brumbaugh, and Glenn Gross, Steve Louden and Dana L. Pruett will be duking it out for a Councilman-at-Large seat in Oolitic.

No matter where you live though, it is important you get out and vote today. If you need information, or have concerns about today's election, visit www.indianavoters.com, or call (866) IN-1-Vote.

And, once you do vote, make sure you tune in to WBIW at 4:30 to hear a replay of the Bedford Mayoral Forum, and then at 5:30 to hear the beginning of Election Night 2007 hosted by News Director Justin Metzger and Morning Update host Jason Thompson, the only program giving live coverage to the Lawrence County municipal elections.
