Attorney General Carter Offers Holiday Shopping Tips
(UNDATED) - Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter is warning Hoosiers about frauds and scams that have a tendency to befall shoppers during the holiday shopping season, which officially begins Friday morning.
Carter says online shoppers are the most at-risk, and should take a number of steps to make sure their not being taken for a ride, including verifying the vendor's physical, bricks-and-mortar address in case you need to contact them, make sure you read the fine print in item descriptions, especially looking for words such as "refurbished," "vintage," and "close-out," keep a paper trail and use secure payment methods such as pay-pal and credit cards instead of wire transfers and cash.
