(BEDFORD) - Indiana University will get its fifth Hoosier in the College Football Hall of Fame.

Big Ten record breaker, Heisman Trophy runner-up and Phoenix Cardinal draftee Anthony Thompson will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame December 4th at the 50th anniversary awards dinner in New York.

The 2-time All-American running back will also be received this evening at a public event hosted by IU president Michael McRobbie at the Bloomington Convention Center, which will feature speeches by Thompson and former IU football coach Bill Mallory.

Thompson, a Terre Haute native, scored a record 65 NCAA career touchdowns which wasn't broken until 1998, and scored a record 412 points, which went unbeaten until 1999.

The reception will be tonight from 5:30 until 7:30 and is open to the public.
