3 Young Mitchell Residents Charged With Theft
(BEDFORD) - Three people from Mitchell were arrested last night for stealing from the Wal-Mart, but what was interesting is the odd mélange of items they allegedly tried to take.
Bedford police say 20-year-old Dustin Mullins, 20-year-old Kaelyn Baldwin and 18-year-old Ashton Reid were all detained by Wal-Mart security for allegedly stealing items ranging from a 30-dollar memory card to a Rolling Stones t-shirt to a number of travel toiletries.
Almost $150 worth of merchandise was allegedly recovered from the 3 individuals from Wal-Mart loss-prevention officials.
Assistant Chief Of Police Dan Kirk told WBIW News that, though theft calls invariably go up during the Christmas season, the best efforts to prevent crime comes from shopkeepers, and less from police officers.
Officers can only be so many places at one time, but shopkeepers can make a more visible display of security in their own stores and actually see that turn results.
