(PAOLI) - The Orange County Sheriff’s Department is reporting an increase in traffic accidents of more than 30%.

Major Bill Fullington says a less-than-sufficient number of sheriff's deputies is partially to blame for the increase, saying there just isn't enough officers on the road to make sure everyone obeys traffic laws.

According to the department release based on the first 10 months of this year, US Highway 150 is the most dangerous road in Orange County, responsible for more than 20% of accidents reported.

The worst section of the road is the stretch between Paoli and Prospect.

County Sheriff Richard Dixon says that, since there has been an increase in traffic in Orange County, the natural side effect is an increase in accidents.
