NSWC Crane Gets $7 Million In Funding Passed
(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Hoosier Senators Evan Bayh and Dick Lugar helped secure $7 million in research and technology funding for the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Crane, Indiana.
The funding for Crane was unanimously approved as part of the 2008 Department of Defense Appropriations Bill.
NSWC Crane will get $4 million for a part of their electronic warfare program, and $3 million for a joint project between Crane and Indiana University for a new advanced linear accelerator facility.
NSWC Crane employs close to 4,000 Hoosiers, making it the 12th largest employer in the state.
The appropriations bill will soon head to conference session to reconcile differences between the House and Senate versions, and after the joint bill is passed by both houses, will move to the White House for signing.
