IU Student Turns Self In From EconoLodge Shooting
(BLOOMINGTON) - An Indiana University student turned himself in in connection with the shooting at the EconoLodge on North Walnut Street in Bloomington that sent one man to the hospital.
21-year-old Antoine Sims, a criminal justice major, turned himself over to Bloomington police Monday after 2 alleged accomplices, Ernest Holifield and Montez Sanders, both 21, were arrested and charged with assisting a criminal.
Sims stands charged with aggravated battery and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.
Early Sunday morning, Bloomington officers were called to the EconoLodge after witnesses say a man fired several shots into the air, one into a silver Honda, and one into a crowd striking the victim in the leg.
Monroe County sheriffs arrested Holifield and Sanders at a gas station where they allegedly tried to ditch the weapon in a garbage can.
The case is still under investigation.
