IU Journalism Student Murdered
(BLOOMINGTON) - The Indiana University School of Journalism is mourning the loss of a student who was murdered at a Marion, Indiana restaurant.
22-year-old James "Jimmy" Mack died at Marion General Hospital early Saturday morning, and his friend, 22-year-old Justin Riddle, is in critical condition at Park View Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Marion police say Mack and Riddle got into a verbal disagreement with a 33-year-old man named Dennis Roberson at the Icehouse Restaurant in Marion, when Roberson allegedly pulled a gun, firing and striking both Mack and Riddle several times.
Mack was shot in the chest and legs, while Riddle was shot in the chest, abdomen, hand and arm. Roberson allegedly fled the scene on foot, but was caught shortly after by Marion police.
Roberson is being held without bond at the Grant County jail charged with preliminary charges of murder and attempted murder.
