(BLOOMINGTON) - While the Dalai Lama is currently a guest of The White House, The Tibetan Cultural Center in Bloomington considers his visit next week to be a homecoming.

The Tibetan leader will visit Indiana University Bloomington for the 4th time October 22nd through the 27th.

Elaine Mellencamp, who sits on the Cultural Center Board, says the week will include an interfaith ceremony at the St. Paul Catholic Center, a 3-day educational program for Buddhist students, and a public talk about compassion. A group of Indian monks are creating a sand painting for his arrival.

The Dalai Lama received the Congressional Gold Medal which he called a "great honor" that will "bring tremendous joy and encouragement to the Tibetan people."
