(BEDFORD) - Bedford police public information officer Major Dennis Parsley has told WBIW News there is a marked increase in shoplifting lately.

Major Parsley said it's normal to have shoplifting at large stores, such as Wal-Mart and Lowes, but in the last 2 days, Parsley says 3 people have been arrested for shoplifting at the Bedford Family Dollar.

Just on Tuesday, 36-year-old Misty Reed of Orleans, and 46-year-old Cynthia Chandler were arrested at the Family Dollar on 16th street for stealing almost the same type of stuff, from the same store on the same day.
