Controlled, Open Fires Now Okay
(BEDFORD) - WBIW News has been updated by Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig about the ban on open fires.
According to Sheriff Craig, the ban on all open fires in Lawrence County has been lifted. Lawrence County officials believe there has been enough rain to fall in the past couple days to say open ground level fires are now safe.
The Bedford area has received just less than 5 inches of rain for the entire month of September so far, not including today's precipitation, and most of that has been in the past 2 days, but that now puts us above the average September rainfall of 3.1 inches.
