Columbus Deputy Faces Battery Charges

(COLUMBUS) - A Bartholomew County sheriff’s deputy is facing battery charges.
According to court documents, Ray Sims is accused of hitting his wife. Sims is a 31-year vet of the sheriff's department.
Bartholomew County Sheriff Mark Gorbett says he was going to ask the county merit board to fire Sims, but Sims plans to retire.
If convicted, Sims faces up to a year behind bars.
