Bedford Woman Calls 911, Leaves, Returns, Gets Arrested
(BEDFORD) - A Bedford woman is being held for drunk driving and other charges after she returned to a house she called 911 from.
Bedford police say 52-year-old Carrie Fitzgerald and another man were in a dispute. Before she left the house, she called 911 and hung up.
As is standard operating procedure, Bedford police called the number back where the male answered and informed them of the argument and how 911 was called. Bedford police arrived to the home and, shortly after their arrival, Fitzgerald returned, headlights off, allegedly almost hitting another vehicle.
The officer smelled alcohol on her breath and took her into custody.
Fitzgerald stands charged with operating while intoxicated, having an open container of alcohol in her vehicle, and not using headlights when required.
