Bedford Police Reel In Fleeing Drunk Driver

(BEDFORD) - Bedford police had to reel in a drunk driver who tried to get away yesterday.

Bedford police allege 39-year-old Springville resident Robert Collins was found by a third party driving erratically down 5th St.

Bedford police had an officer nearby and was able to locate the vehicle traveling east on 5th at S St.. When the officer tried to make the stop, Collins allegedly took off trying to elude him.

The officer was finally able to make the stop at 5th and M Streets. Police drug him in and gave him a breathalyzer test, which he failed. They also found the plates on the car allegedly belonged to another vehicle.

Collins is being held on charges of operating while intoxicated, reckless driving, false and fictitious registration and resisting arrest by vehicle.
