(BEDFORD) - In an accident toward the south end of Bedford, a man on a motorcycle struck an off-duty police car backing out of its driveway.

Shortly before 4:00PM, 57-year-old Martin East was traveling southbound on I St. near the intersection of 25th on his late-model Triumph motorcycle.

At that time 39-year-old Bedford police officer Cyle Beekman was backing out of his driveway and didn't see East coming down the road.

East struck the passenger rear quarter of Beekman's Crown Victoria. East suffered scrapes and abrasions to his arm when he hit the ground.
